About Anthony Mendez

Anthony was born in the Bronx, New York, to Puerto Rican parents, first in his family to attend college and graduate from Fordham University.  Creator and member of of Horn Property Management, LLC, with 30 years of commercial and residential real estate experience.

In the early 1980’s, while in the 9th grade, Anthony dropped of high school to take a job at a local grocery store at night, and for extra income would hand-wash cars during the day, in order to help his mother financially, while also caring for his little sister.

In the late 80’s; Anthony got the opportunity to work as an assistant to a real estate sales agent, where he would take phone calls, arrange schedules to show vacant commercial and residential properties, and on occasions would show the vacancies himself. Over a period of several years, while continuing to work for the real estate agent, he developed a sense for interest and intrigue for how the financial side of real estate worked.  In the early 90ś, he briefly drifted away from real state to pursue what he thought to be a career in the the Stock Market.

Hired by a New York Stock Exchange member firm, his first job was that of a runner. During the his time as a runner, Anthony prepared to take the Series 7 exam, which he failed the first time around; frustrated by failing the exam, he went on a mission and wrote the entire Serie 7 Study Manual, word-for-word, by hand. He passed on his second attempt.

During his employment as a sock broker, Anthony realizes two thing: First, that the life as a stack broke was not what he envisioned; secondly, that he missed the interaction and benefits associated with helping people in real estate.

In turning back to real estate, Anthony gets his first taste as an assistant to a property manager, and in a short period of time he obtains his salesperson real estate license followed by corporate broker’s license, two years late.
